Official Public Holidays of Assam Government in 2018 Calendar

Assam observes festivals of different religions and diverse tribes. It conducts colourful festivals of every tribes with high gusto and enojoyment. The big festival that Assam observes is Bihu in three calendar holidays namely Bohag Bihu or Rongali Bihu in April, Magh Bihu or Bhogali Bihu in January & Kati Bihu or Kongali Bihu in October/ November. Few other festivals are Elephant Festival, Tea Festival, Majuli Festival, Dehing Patkai Festival & Brahmaputra Festival.

Assam is one among the state where 2 minds of people live from olden time period. One is the non-tribal and the other is tribal. The major Tribes of Assam are Bodo who follow public calendars of assam. The Karbi tribes dwells in hilly regions of Assam, Phake Tribes who exists in Dirugarh & Tinsukia dist. of Assam and the Mishing Tribe. The non-tribes dwellers of Asam consists of mainly Hindu and Muslim religion have national holidays.

The festival calendars in the state of Assam are the days observed by tribes having own customs and traditions. The public holidays in assam includes Bihu (Rongali Bihu, Kongali Bihu and Bhogali Bihu) as it is the most significant and general festival. Other general holidays of Assam are observed during Durga Puja and Eid or Id.

Assam public holiday are the national holidays where all establishments, people, culture have legal right to take holiday and it is a non-working day for the year 2018. In the state of Assam General Holidays 2018, it is compulsory to grant leave for banks, state government, public servants or private employers and employees, schools, and colleges.
